2018 First Waves
2017 Artist in Residence at the Houses of Parliament
Artist Scarlett Crawford has been appointed by the UK Parliament for a new project entitled 'First Waves: Exploring the impact of race relations legislation in the UK'. The artworks will be displayed in Parliament for an exhibition in 2019 which will look at the impact of race relations legislation and the stories of the people who fought for change, before being returned to the communities that inspired them.
“I’m really excited to have been chosen to creatively explore the impact of race relations legislation across the country. Working in collaboration with local communities I hope to discover the unheard stories of those who were affected by the changes, to honour the contributions of those who led the way, and to inspire future generations of people from all backgrounds to engage with art and politics.” - Scarlett Crawford, First Waves Artist.
2017 London Needs You Alive Campaign
Some of London’s most influential young artists, from grime and rap stars to poets and bloggers, joined Mayor Sadiq Khan to launch a new campaign to help stop knife crime from claiming young lives in London. The Mayor’s campaign - London Needs You Alive: don’t carry a knife - sends a positive and inspirational message to young people that their lives are too valuable to be put at risk by carrying a knife. I facilitated a workshop with young people from Evelyn Grace Academy alongside youth social media influencers such as Slum Flower, who together have hundreds of thousands of followers, including grime artist Yungen, MC Bossman Birdie and urban poet Hussain Manawer.

2016 AFROPUNK London
Alongside Spoken Word Artist Sonority Turner and Illustrator Wum Zum, we were asked to create a live mural during the first AfroPunk Festival in London. We built and created a structure out of cardboard boxes that acted as our canvas during our live collaboration that incooporated many of the themes that Afropunk strives to promote - safe space, diversity and community. We invited the audience to leave their mark alongside our work.

As one of the longest standing members of Photofusion, I helped to present their crowd funding campaign to raise over £40k in order to keep Photofusion open in the face of rising rents and gentrification in Brixton. The campaign was successful and Photofusion will be moving and continuing to provide photographic services.
